POWERED BY THE SUN

On March 21, 2016 Albina Head Start embarked on an ambitious plan to bring solar power to our schools and more renewable energy education to our classrooms. Fast forward to today, and our solar installation is providing 70% of Owen Blank’s annual electricity

use from the sun!

Our students are now able to see first- hand how sunlight is converted into electricity. Solar education is also receiving more focus in Albina Head Start’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program. This focus on STEM empowers our students, families, and our community to build a sustainable future for everyone.

Albina Head Start would like to thank Blue Sky customers and Pacific Power for their generous donation to make this solar project possible. We would also like to thank the Oregon Community Foundation and United Fund Advisors for their financial support of this important sustainability effort!

DID YOU KNOW

Enough solar energy hits the earth every hour to power the world for one year!

The cost of solar power has dropped over 80% in the last 10 years.

Once a solar project is installed, the sun provides free fuel, without noise, air or water pollution.

The Owen Blank solar array will reduce carbon emissions by over 42 tons per year!
